Relation to Sentient Life

The Canine Experience

Has a pet ever opened a part of your heart and soul that nothing else could?

“Sit with animals quietly and they will show you their hearts.
Sit with them kindly, and they will help you locate yours” ~ Ramblings of the Claury.

Our sentient neighbors on this planet have a lot to teach us about life simply following the laws of nature that they abide by. The overprotective mama bear watching out for her cubs (survival tip, if you see a cub in the wild, Stay Away!). The mischievous feline watches and observes life seeing things for how they are. The tune & melody birds sing to communicate to each other through their collective vibrational wavelength. The snake or lizard basking in the sun taking in the rays and vitamin D… and relaxing at the moment just how we should in the digital age stealing our attention away. And most of all, humankind’s best friend, the Dog.

“Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.” ~ Roger Caras

Note: Just putting this out here as a disclaimer that I’m not purposly leaving out other animals since a lot of people have other pets too like Cats, Horses, Pigs, Repitles, etc. For the majority of the blog post, I will use Dogs as the focus.

Pet dog on owners lap with view of an Oceanic background Who doesn’t love a dog? I mean happiness is a puppy because it will melt your heart (in a good way). While a lot of animals can shape us into better people, it’s the Dog who is the best. I’ve heard and read this online before that our perspective in life changes when we know we have two lives and the second one starts once we realize we just have only one. This realization can be found through hardships, NDE, travel, a massive life-changing moment, and/or spending time with our furry canine friends. And this goes deeper in knowing the experience of having a dog they will ALWAYS love you unconditionally, be your best friend, and know your different moods like when you’re upset, sad, ill, happy, or needing comfort or companionship. When you’re crying, they’ll lick the tears off your face. When a stranger approaches your house, they’ll bark in defense of you and your territory. When you want to go for a walk, they’ll be there alongside you. If you need a cuddle buddy, they’re #1.

They’re one of the only animals that loves you more than yourself and will fight for you and protect you. To raise a dog since it was a puppy not long after being born, the love of it only deepens over time as you grow with it and take good care of them over the years. The bond with these sentient beings makes us grow as humans and our souls evolve to love such an animal making us feel a little bit more whole. Truly sitting with them quietly they’ll show you their hearts as they look at you in the eyes, wag their tails and smile with their mouths open. Maybe here they want to play.

Wagging their tail and smiling is the most sincere affection that anyone can muster in their lifetime by hugs, kind words, handshakes, or smiles alone. Should we return the kindness, the interaction with them will help us reconnect and find our hearts. This is truly one of the greatest gifts and experiences in life that everyone should have at least once in their lifetime. The love, loyalty, and companionship of a dog are unconditional. A 6-year old said it best:

“People are born so they can learn how to live a good life.
To love with unconditional loyalty and being nice all the time.
Dogs already know how to do that and are born with this trait.
This is why their lives are so short.
Their purpose is to teach us this so they don’t stay long on this earth”

Two Golden Retrievers They may not be here for our whole lives but we’re here for all of theirs. Whoever said money can’t buy happiness never had a dog. The amount of personal & spiritual growth from our canine companions is underrated. To sit back and cuddle with them, play with them like tug-of-war or fetching the stick or Frisbee, heck even joining us in a car ride in silence merely enjoying our company or barking at other dogs or people since that’s something they do. These bonding moments last a lifetime and no one would ever say they wish they didn’t spend more time with their dog. This humanizes us as it locates our hearts.

Some prisons actually have rehabilitation programs that have convicts tending to dogs and helping raise & take care of them which is shown to reduce ‘recidivism’. In programs like these, it lowers aggression, depression, anxiety, and other negative emotions prisoners face when they are given a chance for responsibility to help take care of at-risk dogs. Just look up ‘Dog Training Prison Rehabilitation’. Through those incarcerated in the most negative place on Earth, our canine friends help these people in return to get back in touch with their hearts. It’s a great start towards actual prison reform as the dogs help these criminals heal themselves in mind, body, and soul. Caring for an animal who loves them back in a place of misery and negativity. If you’ve ever been down through big cities, you may see a homeless person with their dog and it won’t leave that person’s side. That’s true love & loyalty despite not having a home.

Woman scratching a Pig's chin To make these traits as part of ourselves with all of our loved ones and friends and close associates while being kind to strangers. Even the 6th sense they carry to pick up on things that most people naturally can’t. Their intuition being greater than ours and seeing spirits or picking up on the vibration of another person’s thoughts they conceal from the front they put out. Even their true nature.

I once encountered a guy while hiking with our family dog who before telling me he was into dogfighting, our dog was growling at him defensively when his introduction was normal like anyone else. Perhaps she knew this and could pick up on the darkness in this man’s spirit since our family dog is never that territorial to strangers to begin with, even though we were about 30 feet apart. Upon his reveal and wanting our dog, his demeanor completely changed, and then I saw his eyes changed creepily as it dilated black like a psycho which left me goosebumps. Afer a brief of exchange of dialogue back-and-forth being left utterfly disgusted with him and I then told the old guy off rudely. The moral of the story here is that dogs and other animals (like cats) can pick up on people better than we can because they live in their natural state as animals and perhaps just more naturally gifted than us with stronger intuitive abilities.

A pet Cat sitting on a lawn chair While dogs are the animal who are the focus here, other animals can teach us as well including cats, pigs, horses, whales, apes, etc. They all savor the moment & live in the present. Since their natural habitat is the wild, they’re more in tune with their nature and natural instincts. So should we too…

Perhaps a takeaway here is to play & have fun. Were so boggled down with technology, the hustle, and bustle of life, careers, etc. We forget to live. A pet can help break this mental & spiritual shift.

Do you feel animals can help us relate and find ourselves?

What’s your take on dogs being man’s best friend and opening a part of souls and showing us how to live?

An intriguing discussion is definitely worth comment.
I think that you need to publish more on this subject, it may not
be a taboo matter but usually folks don’t discuss these subjects.

    To the next! Cheers!!

In my opinion, it is a lie.
